Homeworld: Unbound is on SideQuest
The listing is live: Homeworld: Unbound on SideQuest.
0.8 reported it as submitted and waiting, with the awkward detail attached: the build sitting in review was older than the release announcing it, and nothing about the listing could be changed until that first approval came through. That is closed, and it closed the good way — the listing came up on 0.10, this morning’s release, rather than on the build that originally went in.
What it changes, and what it does not
It does not remove Developer Mode. Sideloading anything onto a Quest still means turning that on once, whether the file comes from SideQuest or from a releases page, and that has not moved.
What it changes is that there is now somewhere to find this, which a URL you have to be given already is not.
The other thing a listing can do that a releases page cannot is register an
update as an update — and that only works because the version number moves. The
APK declares 0.10, build 10. For the first seven releases it declared 1.2.0
build 1, the version of the engine underneath, unchanged since before any of
this existed; 0.7 is where that was
fixed. It is a good thing it was fixed first, because a store shipping builds
that nothing downstream can tell apart is worse than no store.
The releases page is not going anywhere, and the installer still exists for anyone who wants their game data brought across for them.
